Vidalia Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday night just before 10:00.

Police heard multiple gunshots from an area of Epstein Street and Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard, and upon arrival, heard yelling from the 600 block of Martin Luther King Jr., Boulevard. Officers found Christopher Powell, age 47, of Vidalia, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Powell was transported by ambulance to the Vidalia hospital and air lifted to Memorial Health United Medical Center in Savannah where he is listed in stable condition.

Early Monday afternoon police arrested Antron Williams of Peachtree Street for the shooting. He was taken to the Toombs County Detention Center and booked on warrants for one count of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated battery, one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, one count of theft by receiving stolen property, one count of reckless driving, one count of driving while license suspended, and one count of obstruction of an officer.
