Mrs. Frances Savage Sharpe, age 88, of Lyons, died Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at her home after an extended illness. She was a native of Elberta, Alabama, briefly living in Eastman and Savannah before moving to Lyons in the mid 1940s. She was a 1953 graduate of Lyons High School. She began a thirty year career in banking in Lyons at Peoples Bank, later working at First National Bank of Jesup and returned to Lyons, retiring from Peoples Bank. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Community Church in Lyons where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed interior decorating and cooking, and she was generous and loving. Preceding her death was her husband of sixty-seven years, Carl R. Sharpe; one son, Shannon Sharpe; parents, Thomas Cleveland Savage, Jr. and Lula Beatrice Carney Savage; and one brother, Woodie Savage.
Her family includes one son, Sandy Sharpe; three grandchildren, Cameron Sharpe and wife Paula, all of Lyons, Mikell Sharpe, USAF of Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Jordan Wilt Matthews and husband Justin of the Normantown Community; four great-grandchildren, Cali Love, Claire Sharpe, Ava Matthews and Abigail Sharpe; and two nieces.
A private graveside funeral service will be Friday afternoon, September 22nd, at 4:00 at the Sharpe Family Cemetery with Reverend David Blalock officiating.
