Mrs. Eula James Shaw Rigdon, age 98, of Vidalia, died Sunday, September 17, 2023, at her home, following an extended illness. She was a native of the Johnson Corner Community and lived in Vidalia most of her life. She was a sales clerk at TG&Y in Vidalia for many years, worked with her husband at Rigdon Printing and was a homemaker. Since 1968, she was an active member of Smith Street Baptist Church in Vidalia and kept the children’s nursery at church. She was a member of the TEL Sunday School Class, and as her husband was president of the class, she assisted him in preparation and lesson planning. She enjoyed picking up pecans, cooking, word search, and watching old game shows. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Leonard “Bill” James and Susan Anderson James; and nine siblings.
Her family includes four daughters, Linda Shaw Moss of Vidalia, Patsy Shaw Clayton of Douglasville, Cindy Shaw, and Donna Shaw Haddock and husband Jeff, all of Vidalia; six grandchildren, Donna Fountain, Andrea Ford and husband Chuck, Jimmy Fountain, Layne Clayton and wife Jennifer, Susan Kennedy and husband Josh, and Casey Haddock; six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 24th, 2023, from 2:00 until just prior to the funeral service at 3:00 in chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral with Reverend David Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Hardens Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Chester Proctor.
