Mrs. Lola Carolyn Heath, age 91, beloved wife of the late Benny Heath of Soperton passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, June 1, 2023 while under the care of Community Hospice in Vidalia.

Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was one of five children born to the late Arthur Clifford Giles and Mattie Mae Hopkins Giles.  She and her siblings grew up in Treutlen County where she was a graduate of Soperton High School, Class of 1948.  During high school she worked at, Meadie Williamson’s, Soperton Pharmacy; which would later become Wesley Crowe’s Soperton Rexall Pharmacy.  In 1949, she married Treutlen County native Benny Lewis Heath.  They made Treutlen County their home where they raised their three children and remained until their passing.  Mrs. Heath had worked and retired as a Paraprofessional within the Treutlen County School System and owned and operated Carolyn’s Hair Styling Salon, at her home, for many years.

Carolyn became a Christian at an early age and lived her life serving Jesus and ministering to others.  Upon her marriage to Benny, Carolyn joined the family church and became a faithful servant to Lothair Church.  She led the music, taught Sunday School, was a leader in the Methodist Youth Fellowship and was active in the Women’s ministry.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of sixty eight years, Mr. Benny Heath, who passed away in 2017, two sisters, Eloyce Hooks and Betty Jean Collins of Dublin, GA and a brother, Cortez Giles of Callahan, FL.

Mrs. Heath leaves behind her children: Al Heath and his wife, Jackie, of Soperton, Karen Martin and her husband, Charles, of Brunswick, Sherrian Dorsey and her husband, Randy, of Soperton, one sister, Mary Ann Steele, Callahan, FL, grandchildren, Chad Heath (Kim), Will Heath (Alice), Heather Ellis (Will), Chris Martin (Shannon), Luke Dorsey, Ben Dorsey (Kana), great grandchildren, Cejay Heath, Colby Heath, Coy Heath, Cassi Heath, Tucker Heath, Ansley Ellis, Tyler Ellis, Madison Martin, Payton Martin and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastors Tommy Veal and Gilbert Posey officiating.

Mrs. Heath will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Fowler Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends on Monday, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home or friends and family may call at the home of Al and Jackie Heath.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Chad Heath, Will Heath, Will Ellis, Chris Martin, Luke Dorsey and Ben Dorsey.
