Pastor Joseph Golden

Pastor Joseph Golden received his wings on January 22, 2023, at his residence in Vidalia GA. He was born February 19, 1931, in Statesboro GA, the first born child of the late Reverend William and Sally McIntosh Golden. He received his education at the St. Paul’s Church in Register, GA. He walked to school every day but was only able to complete the eighth grade due to having to enter the workforce.

At an early age, he attended the family church, Piney Grove, located in Nevil’s, GA. He relocated to Philadelphia, PA where he attended Royal Temple Community Church. While living in Philadelphia, he worked as a construction working building Interstate 95 in Georgia and South Carolina. Later years of his life, he moved back to Georgia, where he attended First Union Baptist Church as a deacon. He would also become the Pastor of the Church Of All People, which he lead for 16 years in Vidalia, GA. He worked for Bradley Plywood doing logging and retired for the first time at the age of 62. He would come out of retirement to pursue a career in construction with H.A. Sock and T. Q. Construction, where he retired once again at the age of 83.

He was a man of his word, who loved spending time with his family. Once you got to know him, you would always want to be around him. He instilled in his children and grandchildren discipline, a great work ethic, how to treat people and to always lend a hand to help anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Walter Golden, and Martin Golden, 1 sister, Vondie Floyd, and 3 sons, Alvin Golden, Joey Golden and William Golden. He is survived his loving wife, Jessie Golden of Vidalia, GA; two sons, Tony (Cherry) Golden of Holly Hill, SC and Gerald (Terry) Golden of Statesboro, GA; five daughters, Cynthia Golden, Conyers, GA, Veronica Parrish, Fred-nan (John) McPheters, Cheryl Golden, all of Statesboro, GA, and Wanda Parrish of Savannah, GA; 5 stepchildren, Jerome Green, Sylvester Green, Audrey Green, Jeffery Green and Kathy Green all of Vidalia, GA; three godchildren, Narcissus Bank of Philadelphia, PA, Delphia Florence of Charlotte NC, and Ulysses (By-Yaa) Armstrong of Statesboro, GA; 43 grandchildren; brothers, Bishop Johnny (Sonia) Golden, Early (Angie) Golden, Charles (Laurene) Golden; sisters, Novella Hendrix, Gloria (Robert) Ross, Mary Jacobs, Marion (Jerry) White, Pastor Josephine Golden; and a host of great grands, great great grands, in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends

Public Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 2 PM until 5 PM.  A wake will be held from 5 PM until 7 PM at Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home in Lyons, GA.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 3:30 PM from the Sanctuary of Harvest Time Faith Center in Vidalia, GA.  Bishop Bernard and Valentina Hill is the Pastors.  Bishop Vincent R. Drummer will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in East Park Cemetery in Vidalia, GA.

Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Pastor Joseph Golden.
