Mr. David C. McLane, age 72, of Kibbee Community, died Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah after an extended illness. He was a native of Hartwell, Georgia, living there most of his life before moving to Montgomery County in 2012. He was a 1968 graduate of Hart County High School and later was awarded a baseball scholarship with Brewton-Parker College where he earned an Associate degree, and recently was inducted into the Brewton-Parker College Hall of Fame. David later played minor league baseball for the Atlanta Braves for several years. He worked with Flowers Baking Company as a bread distributor for more than thirty years, and he attended Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, and collecting arrowheads and McCoy pottery. He loved baseball and continued to support the sport, especially the Atlanta Braves. He is preceded in death by his parents, Broadus A. McLane and Frances Frye McLane; and sister, Becky McLane Cleveland.
His family includes his wife, Mary Ann Hilton Warnock of Kibbee; two daughters, Amanda Sawall and husband Chuck, and Laura McLane, all of Winder; two stepchildren, Thomas James Warnock and wife Christy of Athens, Texas, and Elizabeth Warnock Herndon and husband Jason of Toombs Central; one sister, Christy Green Jones and husband Steve of Hartwell; six grandchildren, Faith, Adrianna, Madison, Logan, Lorren and Britten; one great-grandchild, Iris; several nieces and nephews; and long-time friend, Gerald Lord and wife Kay of Sandersville.
The funeral service will be Friday morning, December 2nd, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until just prior to the service.
