DennisPIC

Mr. Albert Joseph “A.J.” Dennis, age 73, beloved husband of Nell Willis Dennis, of Adrian, passed away on Saturday morning, November 19, 2022 at their home.

Born in Treutlen County, he was the son of the late Herman Rozier Dennis and Sarah Martha Elizabeth Beasley Dennis.  As an infant, the family moved to Adrian where he had been a lifelong resident.  Mr. Dennis attended the Adrian School and afterwards worked many years, primarily as a Carpenter.  He began by working at Adrian Housing in Adrian before moving to the Georgia Plywood Mill in Dublin.  Upon leaving the present day Roche Farm Supply site, he joined the workforce at Bassett Furniture in Dublin where he remained until it’s closing.  While at Bassett Furniture, he met his future wife, Dorothy Nell Willis whom he convinced to marry him in 1991.  Upon Bassett’s closing, Mr. Dennis worked at Mohawk Industries until it’s closing in 2009.

Mr. Dennis enjoyed the outdoors, doing yardwork, making keepsake pieces of furniture for family, being the neighborhood Handi Man and making a mess in the kitchen while making and sharing his famed Martha Washington candy.  He was always eager to respond to any neighbor’s need to have something fixed or repaired.

Mr. Dennis leaves behind his wife of thirty one years, Nell Willis Dennis, a son, Herman Joseph “Pee Wee” Dennis, North Kingstown, RI, siblings, Nellie Vay Odom, Dublin, GA, Charles Dennis, Adrian, GA, Zelda Sumner (Roger), Adrian, Rocky Dennis, Meeks, GA, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
