Mr. Bearlon Brooks, age 58 of the Gillis Springs community of Soperton passed away on Friday afternoon, June 24, 2022 at his home.
Born in Laurens County, he was one of four children born to the late Rayburn B. and Juanita Fowler Brooks. He grew up in Glenwood and at the age of fourteen went to work to help support his family. He initially worked in a saw mill before accepting a position as a Welder with Teena Iron Works in Dublin, which later moved to Wrightsville. Mr. Brooks worked with Teena for over thirty years, before retiring as a Supervisor, in 2011.
He was accomplished at playing stringed instruments; whether it be a banjo, bass or guitar. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and any time spent out doors.
Mr. Brooks had attended the Church of God, Orianna Baptist Church, Blue Springs Baptist Church and most recently the Holiness Church.
He leaves behind his wife of forty years, Karen Simmons Brooks, Soperton, GA, children, Christopher Heuett (Kimberly), Eatonton, GA, Daniel Heuett (Krystal) Glenville, GA, Michael Brooks (Angelica), Soperton, GA, Brittany Simmons, Locust Grove, GA, his siblings, Doyle Brooks, Dublin, GA, Rebecca Hall, East Dublin, Ga, Nelson Brooks, East Dublin, Ga, six grandchildren, John Heuett, Jasmine Heuett, Melinda Simmons, Rosabella Meadows, Jayden Brooks, Camden Brooks and Many nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton.
Mr. Brooks will be laid to rest beside his wife’s parents in the Minter Cemetery.
