Mr. Jerry Beckum, Sr. age 75, of Vidalia, died Thursday, June 23, 2022, at his home after an extended illness. He was a native of Toombs County and lived there most of his life. He worked for Piggly Wiggly Southern and the United States Postal Service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam, a member of Vidalia Masonic Lodge #330 and a member of Vidalia Baptist Temple. He is preceded in death by his parents, L.T. Beckum and Pearl Logan Beckum; brother, Wayne Beckum; and daughter-in-law, Kandi Adams Beckum.
His family includes his wife, Margie Hadden Beckum of Vidalia; two sons, Ricky Beckum of Vidalia, and Jerry Lee Beckum, Jr. and wife Tammy of Oxford, North Carolina; one brother, Bobby Beckum and wife Ann of Santa Claus; two sisters, Nelda Garrett and husband Mack of Lyons, and Vicki Mosley and husband Kenneth of Soperton; eight grandchildren, Ashley Beckum Conner and husband Clint, Ivey Beckum and wife Amy, Nyra Beckum Eason and husband Jeremy, Lee Beckum, Michelle Beckum Hewett and husband Travis, Brandon Beckum and wife Taylor, Heather Beckum, and Brittney Beckum and fiancé Jackson Mathews; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, June 26th at 2:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Adrian Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until just prior to the service.
