The Vidalia Indians won their 15th straight game Saturday night, defeating the Swainsboro Tigers 62-55 in Swainsboro. The Indians’ win was their first in Swainsboro since 2018 and moved the 6th ranked Indians record to 17-1 and 6-0 in Region 2AA. In girls’ action, a cold shooting night for the Lady Indians allowed Swainsboro to ease to a 43-22 win.

In the boy’s contest, the Indians trailed by 3-points (16-13) at the end of the first quarter but pulled even at the half 28-28, despite playing half the quarter without Ty Dalley, the Indians leading scorer who was on the bench with three fouls.

The 3rd quarter was a back and forth affair with both teams matching baskets and a fast-paced tempo to see the score tied at 46-46. Then halfway through the final quarter, the Indians would go on a late 16-9 run and pull ahead 62-55.

Ty Dalley finished the night with 23 points to lead the way, while Jordan Powell added 10-points for the Indians, who have not lost a game since falling to Tattnall County on the road 50-40 on November 30th.

In the girl’s game, the Lady Indians kept things close through the first half against the Lady Tigers, trailing 17-13 at the half. But a 1 for 25 shooting performance in the second half sealed the fate of the Lady Indians, who fell to 8-10, and 3-3 in 2AA play. Cristal Franklin with 8-points and Hannah Nichols with 7-points led the way for the Lady Indians, who shot just 11% from the floor on the night.

Both teams are off until Friday night, when they are set to host Jeff Davis, with the girls tipping at 6:00, with the boys to follow at 7:30. You can hear the action with John Koon on Classic Hits, 98Q and at southeastgeorgiatoday.com.(Courtesy of VHS)
