Taylor B. Hart, age 80, of Vidalia, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at his home after an extended illness. He was a native of Uvalda and lived in Vidalia most of his life. He was a journeyman for Georgia Power for fifteen years doing high line construction and later retired with the post office in Kingsland as a rural letter carrier. Mr. Hart was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Vietnam Era, and was one of the sailors selected to be part of the ceremony when Hawaii became the 50th state to join the union, and he served in the Naval Reserve. He was a former member of Vidalia Masonic Lodge #330. He was a member of Cedar Crossing Baptist Church, and a former member of Vidalia Church of God, serving on the Board of Trustees, Men’s Council and was an active member of the church choir. He enjoyed reading westerns and history books. He is preceded in death by his parents, Everette Walter” E.W.” Hart and Eunice Olivia Cowart Hart.
His family includes his wife of fifty-five years, Peggy Wilkes Hart of Vidalia; two children, Shannon Hart and wife Traci of the Center Community, and Kelly Hart of Vidalia; one sister, Freddie Hart of St. Augustine, Florida; five grandchildren, Colby, Blair, Carson, Katie, and Madison and husband Craig; one great-granddaughter, Mayleigh; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Friday, December 31st, at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Reece Mincey and Reverend Donnie Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
