12 2 21 BPC Womens Golf

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker College is pleased to announce the return of women’s golf to Brewton-Parker Athletics. With the addition, BPC will now offer 19 athletic programs 16 of which will compete at the NAIA level.

The program is set to be reinstated for the upcoming 2022-23 athletic season and is slated to begin competition in Fall 2022. Women’s golf returns to Mount Vernon after roughly an eight-year hiatus after the program closed back in 2013.

“We are excited about the return of women’s golf,” says Vice President of Athletics Chris Dooley. “We believe this is a great opportunity for the growth of our athletic programs as a whole and we are thrilled for the future ahead competing in the Southern States Athletic Conference.”

Mark Davidson will take on the role as the head coach of the women’s program in addition to his current duties as the head coach of the men’s program. Davidson expressed his excitement for the announcement and for the opportunity to grow the golf program at Brewton-Parker.

“I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to help bring back women’s golf to Brewton-Parker,” Davidson said. “The reinstatement of women’s golf not only grows the athletic department here but will also help grow the sport locally as well as regionally. I’m looking forward to the future and am excited for the potential this brings.”

The Lady Barons will compete in the Southern States Athletic Conference which currently owns six schools that sponsor the sport. For the 2022-23 season, the total number of sponsored teams in the conference jumps to eight.

More information on the program will be released later. Recruiting efforts will begin immediately to attract prospective student-athletes. The recruiting inquiry form can be found here. More information about Brewton-Parker College can be accessed at bpc.edu. (Courtesy of BPC)
