Suzie Fowler

Susan Mobley “Suzie” Fowler, age 47, of Vidalia, died Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta after a battle with Covid.  She was a native of Sardis, Georgia, moving to Toombs County in 1984, and she was a 1992 graduate of Vidalia Comprehensive High School.  She attended Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon and East Georgia College in Swainsboro for her pre-nursing degree.  She earned her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree from Southeastern Technical College in Vidalia.  Suzie worked at Lovins Realty before starting her nursing career working at Georgia Home Healthcare & Hospice in 2009. As the company transitioned to Amacìta Home Health in 2010, her work continued serving homebound patients in Vidalia and the surrounding communities. Suzie eventually found her hospice home in the family atmosphere of Community Hospice in Vidalia. It was here that she worked from October 2013 until June 2018, providing unwavering support to terminally ill patients and their families and caregivers. She loved every moment of her hospice career. She had a servant’s heart and there was no purer love than that which she gave to patients as they faced their personal end of life stories. In June of 2018, Suzie decided to take a position at Montgomery County Elementary School in Mount Vernon, Georgia as a school nurse. She remained a part of the Community Hospice team in the capacity of a PRN hospice nurse on nights and weekends, because her patients were family and leaving them completely was never an option for her. Becoming a school nurse would give her a chance to spend more time with her son, Lige Fowler, making memories and enjoying summers with the little boy she loved most on this Earth. She recognized that her precious son was growing up so quickly and she didn’t want to miss a single minute of his journey. Suzie thrived as a school nurse. She adored the children she served and the families she met along the way. She referred to the MCES and MCMS students often, and would share with the world, “My school babies keep me on my toes.” We all know it was probably quite the opposite, and Shoo kept everyone she knew on their toes. I’m certain we would all love to have one more moment on our toes listening to Suzie’s laughter.  She attended the Uvalda Church of God and Connection Church in Vidalia.  She enjoyed crafts, plants, and going to the coast and river.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Wanda Sue Oglesby Mobley and Jimmy Lee Mobley.

Her family includes one son, Lige Fowler of Vidalia; her former husband, Nathan Fowler of the Long Pond Community; one brother, Kevin J. Mobley and wife Karen, one niece, Madison Mobley, one nephew, Heath Mobley, all of Statesboro; and aunts and uncles, Debbie Johnson of Augusta, Gloria Connor and husband Donald of Sylvania, Dale Oglesby and wife Sally of Girard, Cindy Widener of Hephzibah, and Kathryn Chandler.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, November 24th, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Sherry Damron officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice Foundation, PO Box 2277, Vidalia, GA 30475.

During Suzie’s illness, many have provided help and kindness along the way, especially three who spent countless hours involved in her medical care, Julie Spivey, Michelle Coleman and Debbie Johnson.
