Mrs. Joanne E. Rolen, age 79, of the Johnson Corner Community, died Tuesday, October 19, 2021, from injuries received from an accident near her home. Born in Canton, Massachusetts, she and her family lived in numerous cities along the eastern seaboard, and in northeastern Florida for many years, before moving to Toombs County on 1973. She was manager at Hardee’s in Vidalia for several years; she was a homemaker and Catholic by faith. Mrs. Rolen enjoyed traveling, going to zoos, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe V. Rolen, Sr.; son, Joe V. Rolen, Jr.; daughter, Donna Rolen; parents, John Force Martin and Beatrice Daisy Stevens Martin; and a brother, Danny Martin.
Her family includes seven children, Gaine Rolen and wife Lolita of Aurora, Missouri, Cheryl Klipsch and husband Dave of Lyons, Belinda Beck and husband Jason of Soperton, Patricia Huard of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Joanne Richardson and husband Marty of Ailey, and John Rolen and wife Jennifer of Vidalia; seven siblings, John “Harold” Martin, Lawrence Martin of Lyons, Steven Martin, Anjeanette Martin Griffin of Brunswick, Theresa Hutchinson of Florida, Wayne Martin of Brunswick, and Kathleen Hutto of Jacksonville, Florida; fourteen grandchildren, Faith, Isaiah, Brian, Kristy, Amanda, Devin, Nathan, Brittany, Daley, Piper, Danny, Andrew, Jameson, and Jax; four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00.
A graveside funeral service will be Saturday, October 23rd, at 3:00 p.m. at the Lyons City Cemetery with Pastor Doyle Waller officiating.
