10 20 21 VHA Flag

10 20 21 VHA HC

Last Friday Night, the Vidalia Heritage Academy Football Team had a Homecoming to remember. The Eagles took on Nathaniel Greene in a region match up. The Eagles started off with a meaningful pregame. The VHA family honored Ethan Yearwood of Nathaniel Greene, a star athlete and well respected student who lost his life in an ATV accident. The Eagles also took time to show respect to the local police officer who lost his life serving his community.

One fan had to say this about the game  “Tonight, I witnessed one of the classiest and most humble displays of sportsmanship I’ve seen in quite some time. I saw tonight, a display of unselfish character and honor from the Vidalia Heritage Academy football team and coaching staff. For a fallen local police officer and a fallen opposing team member, special flags were flown and paraded. A team of gray, white, and blue donned special sleeves of green (and the cheerleaders with green hair bows) to commemorate a player they didn’t know.  But in solidarity, they knew it needed to be done…a sign of respect and sympathy.  His number, painted specially beneath the cross in the corner of the field, was certainly a show of love and the utmost of character. I quote the words “class and humility” spoken to these young men by a VHA coach before meeting the opposing team in the middle of the field after delivering a tough loss. Thank you to the coaching staff at VHA for teaching these young men how to and what it means to be real men. ALL IN. To God be the glory! “

The Eagles played an amazing football game as their Offense showed up putting 73 points on the Patriots. The Eagles were thrilled about their huge win and locking themselves into the playoffs. The Eagles moved to 6-1 on the season. The Eagles will be matched up in another region match up as they are scheduled to play DEA a team VHA has never beaten.

Head Coach Seth Sitzman had this to say, “Last night was more than a football game for us, it was a time and opportunity to show our respect to our community and friends of Nat Greene. Our goals at VHA are to teach these kids values and principles that will carry these young men and women far in life. We Stand for what we believe. We remember, and we walk in Faith.’” Congratulations to all Representatives on the Homecoming Court, especially Prince Ethan Sikes and Princess Kerith Reaves, King James Hutcheson and Queen Madyson Bruce!
