The Dublin Fighting Irish scored 38 unanswered points in the second half to break open a close game at halftime and down the Treutlen Vikings 54 – 12 at Bobby Driggers Stadium Friday night.

Dublin scored on their first two possessions of the night to pull out to a 13 – 0 lead, then added a 37 yard field goal by Kicker John William Potter to take a 16 – 0 lead with 9:02 left in the second quarter.  The Vikings struck 1:33 later on a 73 yard touchdown pass from QB Jordan Coney to WR Tim Blair.  The PAT was no good and the lead was cut to 16 – 6 with 7:26 left before halftime.

After forcing a Dublin punt with 3:05 remaining in the second quarter, the Vikings drove the ball 64 yards and scored on a 1 yard touchdown pass from Coney to Blair with 20 seconds left before the half.  The 2 point conversion attempt was unsuccessful and Dublin led 16 – 12 at halftime.

The Vikings fumbled on the opening kickoff of the third quarter and Dublin scored 1:09 minutes later on a 5 yard run by RB Qua Ashley to extend the lead to 22 – 12 for the Irish.  Treutlen struggled on offense in the second half after QB Jordan Coney left the game in the third quarter with an upper body injury.

Dublin took advantage and scored on their next 4 possessions on two touchdown runs by Ashley of 13 and 9 yards, a 69 yard run by JT Wright, and a 26 yard run by Kameron Hampton to pull away for a 54 – 12 win.

The Vikings fall to 2 – 5 on the season and will host the Dooly County Bobcats next Friday night for homecoming at Bobby Driggers Stadium with kickoff set for 7:30.  Catch all the action with Jeff Raiford and Nathan Lamb on Sweet Onion Country 101.7 FM and online at www.southeastgeorgiatoday.com
