10 14 21 VHS Softball 1

The number one ranked Vidalia Lady Indians steamrolled an overmatched Josey Eagle team 15-0 and 26-0 in round one of the GHSA State Softball Playoffs. The Lady Indians racked up 28 hits in the two games, while Bailey Holland, Tymber Harris, and Madison Starr kept the Eagles hitless over the six innings pitched.

In game one, Holland struck out eight Eagle batters as the Lady Indians offense provided ten hits, with Emma Humphrey, Jesslyn Collins, and Alli Taufmann going 2 for 2. Taufmann and Collins each had 3 RBI’s, while Humphrey provided two more.

The Lady Indians wasted little time taking charge in game two, as Tori Wright led off the game with a long home run to take an early 1-0 lead. Wright finished the game with 4 RBI’s on a 2-2 day, while Collins (2-2) added 4 RBI’s, and Janna Hyers (2-2) produced three more, with a long home run over the left-field fence in the top of the 2nd inning. Emily Thompson (2-2) and AnnaClaire Stephens (2-2) both ended the game with 2 RBI’s each.

Tymber Harris got the win, pitching no-hit ball through her two innings with two strikeouts, while Madison Starr closed out the day, pitching the final inning, striking out one while not allowing a hit.

The Lady Indians will next play in Round 2, Tuesday, against Elbert County, the #2 team from Region 8, who swept Washington 12-0 and 18-0. The first pitch for game one is set for 4:00 P.M. with game two to follow.
