Mr. Winton Williamson, age 83, of the Blue Ridge Community, died Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after a brief illness. He was a native of Toombs County, and lived in the Blue Ridge Community all of his life. He was a 1955 graduate of Lyons High School. After graduating, he began farming with his father and continued to farm until 1976. He retired after forty-two years as Vice-President of Peoples Bank in Lyons. He was a former long-time member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and served as deacon, treasurer, and Sunday school teacher. He was currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Lyons where he also served as deacon and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed being on his tractor, yard work, and was an avid NASCAR and Georgia Tech fan. He loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Williamson, Sr. and Mary Branch Williamson; and a brother, Lee Williamson, Jr.
His family includes his wife of fifty years, Margie Braddy Williamson of Blue Ridge; two children, Donna R. Spikes of Blue Ridge, and Shane Williamson and wife Cynthia of Hawkinsville; three grandchildren, Jessica Williamson, Gage Williamson, and Taylor Williamson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Friday, September 24th, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Dannie Williams and Reverend Don Paterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilkes Cemetery at Blue Ridge.
