The J.R. Trippe Cross Country teams competed in the annual Bulldog Invitational at Toombs County High School on Thursday. Despite unfavorable conditions, 11 runners were able to turn in personal best times. The boys team brought home 2nd place, behind a much larger Richmond Hill team. The boys were led by several top 20 finishers: Cash Driggers (8th), Simon Collins (13th), Roderick Berry (15th) and Larsen Carter (17th). Colt Cooler, Austin Mosley, Nick Foskey, Gabe Cleghorn and Kayden Brantley also had big performances in the muddy conditions.
On the girl’s side, the Lady Chiefs were unable to score as a team with only three runners. Although they could not place as a team, these ladies ran very strong races as they were all able to post season low times. Cannon Sharpton Giselle Garcia and Olivia Allen all improved their times by at least two minutes. With the region championships less than a month away and all of the runners hitting their stride at the right time, look for these athletes to continue pushing forward to their goal of raising the region trophy.
