September 8--In a Region 2AA contest the Toombs County Lady Bulldogs Softball team defeated Swainsboro 12-4 in Lyons Tuesday thanks to a strong start. Toombs scored seven runs on a single by Nora Grace Mercer, a single by Ziahya Griffin, an error, a sacrifice fly by Aniston Powell, an error, a single by Alexis Hart, and a fielder's choice by Arlie Gooden in the first inning. Mercer, Griffin, Kassidy Brantley, Powell, Brinley Miller, and Hart each had RBIs in the frame.
Casey Cantwell earned the victory in the circle going five innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out four.
Toombs racked up 11 hits. Griffin and Gooden each collected two hits to lead the Lady Bulldogs.
