Tuesday Sept 7 Vs Bulloch Academy

In a battle of two very talented freshman pitchers Bulloch Academy was able to come into Lyons and get the win 5-1. Meredith Durden picked up her first loss on the season giving up 7 hits while striking 6 BA hitters out. The Crusaders were led offensively by Railee Thomas who had 2 hits in 4 at bats. The Lady Gators scored in the 2nd on an rbi ground out and pitched out of trouble with Crusaders all over the bases in the bottom half of the inning. Bulloch took advantage of some defensive mistakes to score 3 in the 4th and again pitched out of trouble with the Lady Crusaders in scoring position in the bottom half.

Here is what Coach Fitz had to say " Tonight wasn't an effort issue, our girls played with heart, we got down early but kept fighting and giving ourselves a chance,  we had runners in scoring position in the first 4 innings and just couldn't get the key swing, including the bases loaded with 1 out in the bottom of the second. Bulloch was able to execute, finding a few well placed balls in the infield with runners in scoring position. Proud of the girls, we are off to a good start but we knew we would face some adversity, now it is about how are we gonna respond".
