A motorcyclist from Lyons lost his life Saturday afternoon after colliding with a pick-up truck.

According to reports from the Toombs County Sheriff's Office, dispatch alerted deputies to an accident in front of Big Ma's convenience store in Uvalda around 3:49 Saturday afternoon. Upon arrival, officers determined that Shannon Chris Googe of Lyons was driving his motorcycle eastbound on GA Highway 56 West when a truck driven by Peggy Sue Glisson of Uvalda pulled out from the store's parking lot and into his path.

Witnesses say Googe attempted to avoid the accident but was unable to do so. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS. Glisson was treated for minor injuries.

The accident was turned over to the Georgia State Patrol for investigation.
