April 21--The Vidalia Indians started their last three game region series with a six inning 11-1 win against Bacon County. Landry Mead picked up his 10th win of the year with another solid performance. He pitched all six innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run, striking out 8 and issuing no walks.
The Indians offense started out slow through the first three innings managing only one hit. Bacon County did the same thing but in the top of the 4th inning they got a leadoff homerun giving them a 1-0 lead going to the bottom of the fourth. That seemed to jolt the Indian bats into action as Ty Dalley led off with a homerun, followed by a double from Hughes Graham, a RBI single from Walker Moncus, a double from Jordan Walden and two run double from Cason Banks giving the Indians a 4-1 lead after four innings. The bottom of the 5th inning started out promising again as Bryson Whited started with a single and Dalley walked but a double play killed the inning with no score. The bottom of the 6th inning started harmlessly with a fly ball out to right but a walk to Walden started a merry go round as the Indians pushed across 8 runs with only 4 hits to win by the run rule as Caden Spivey hit a walk-off bases loaded single.
Although the Indian offense started off sluggish they still pounded out 11 hits from seven different players. Graham led the way with 3 hits while Spivey and Whited had 2 hits each.
The Indians move to 22-4 on the season and 13-0 in the region. They will travel to Alma for the second game of the series on Thursday, April 22 at 6:00 pm and then back home on Friday night at 5:45pm to finish the region play.
