The VHS Lady Indians competed at the Outback Invitational hosted by Eagle's Landing High School on Saturday, April 17. While falling a little short of their goal, the ladies finished 4th as a team to Woodward Academy-1st with 138 pts, Carrollton High School-2nd with 128 points, Union Grove-3rd with 82 points and Vidalia 4th with 76.5 points.
Standout runner Sarah Owen lead the team by placing 2nd in the 800 matching her old school record with a 2.29 . She also had a personal best time in the 1,600 nearly breaking the school record with a time of 5:34, placing 5th. She placed 6h in the 3,200 and was the anchor leg on the 4x400 Relay which placed 3rd. "
Sarah is the perfect combination of grit, determination, perseverance and discipline. Over the course of 4-5 hours she raced in the 3200, 1600, 800 and is one of the fastest legs on our 4x400 team. Jasmine Smith had an outstanding day in the throwing events with a season best in the shot put,34'4" which earned her a 3rd place finish. She placed 4th in the discus." Coach Mandy Godbee said.
