April 18-- The Vidalia Indians beat the Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets 11-0 on Friday night in 5 innings to sweep the three game series. The fourth consecutive region series sweep gives the Indians a 12-0 region record and the Region Championship even though they still have a three game series with Bacon County this week. Bacon County has lost 4 region games which means that The Indians are Region Champs and will have home field advantage in the first two rounds of the State Playoffs that starts on Thursday, April 29th.

Bryson Whited threw the five inning shutout game getting his 5th win of the season.  The Indians grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning and that is all that Whited would need as he gave up only 3 hits, 1 walk and no runs while striking out 4 batters.

The Indian bats were hot as they banged out 17 hits with all nine batters getting at least one hit.  Leading the offense were Landry Mead with 3 hits, 3 runs and 3 RBI’s; Bryson Whited with 3 hits, 3 runs and 1 RBI; Caden Spivey with 3 hits and 2 runs; Hughes Graham with 2 hits and 2 RBI’s; and Jordan Walden with 2 hits and 1 RBI

In the first inning Whited singled and eventually came around to score on a two out single by Moncus.  In the second inning 4 more runs were scored on singles by Spivey and Bennett, a sacrifice bunt by Banks, RBI double from Mead and RBI triple from Whited who scored on a single by Graham making it 5-0 after two innings.  In the third inning the hits kept coming for three more runs.  The runs came as Spivey doubled and was singled in by Banks; Mead followed with a triple driving in Banks and then scored himself on a single by Dalley pushing the score to 8-0.  No score in the fourth even though the Indians threatened.  However, in the fifth inning the Indians picked up three more runs on singles by Mead and Whited followed by a walk to Dalley loading the bases.  Graham singled in a run, Moncus drove in a second run with a sacrifice fly and Walden closed out the scoring with an RBI single making the score 11-0 and when Whited held the Yellow Jackets scoreless in the bottom of the fifth inning it was a run rule win for the Indians.

The three game series with Bacon County starts Tuesday at home at 5:45PM. You can hear the action on Classic Hits, 98Q and at southeastgeorgiatoday.com.
