The Vidalia Indians baseball team beat the Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets 2-0 in the first game of their region series match up this week in a real pitcher’s duel. Landry Mead threw a great game to pick up his 9th win of the season. Mead only allowed two weak singles and walked two while striking out four. The Indians played great defensive baseball committing only one error as they moved to 10-0 in region play and 19-4 overall.
While the defense was stellar the bats were not hot. The Indians only picked up 4 hits in the game with Mead, Dalley, Moncus and Spivey picking up a single hit each. The only scoring happened in the Top of the 5th inning when Spivey led off with a single to left and Banks moved him to second base with a sacrifice bunt. Mead followed with a RBI double down the right field line scoring Spivey. Whited hit a ground ball to shortstop who threw the ball away at first for an error allowing Mead to score the second run. However, that was all the runs Mead needed to win in the shut out over the region rival.
