Mr. Ronald Lamar Braswell, age 87, of Adrian passed away on Saturday afternoon, April 10, 2021 at the Scott Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Swainsboro, GA he was one of nine children born to the late Vernon Lamar “Tarbucket” Braswell and Adrice Loretta Cooper Braswell.  He grew up in Emanuel County and attended high school in Swainsboro where he played football.  As a teenager he would walk from Swainsboro to Norristown to work on his family’s farm.  In 1962 he married Hazlehurst native, EllaVee Reagin and in 1965 they moved to Adrian.  Mr. Braswell worked for a short time as a Machine Mechanic at the pants factory in Wrightsville before joining Adrian Housing as a Road Crew Foreman.  He was responsible for setting up new homes, apartments and portable school buildings; all throughout the Southeast that were built at Adrian Housing.   Mr. Braswell retired in 1999 after over 40 years of service. 

He played softball in the men’s league in Adrian and was a lifelong hunter and fisherman. 

Mr. Braswell had attended the Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene.  

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, EllaVee Reagin Braswell, who passed away in February of this year, former wife, Clara Susie Peebles, a daughter, Cathy Braswell and siblings, Bobby Braswell, Linda Poole and Janeen Odell Oglesby.

Mr. Braswell leaves behind: he and his wife’s children, Sharon McKenzie (Rick), Nolensville, TN, Dane Braswell, Adrian, GA, Jeffery Braswell, East Dublin, GA, Marsha Hightower Poole (Terry), East Dublin, GA, siblings, Ronella Hobby, Augusta, GA, Gale Smallwood (James), JoAnn Gruby (Rick), Canoochee, GA, Wayne Braswell, Swainsboro, GA, Janette Simmons (Jackey), Swainsboro,  eight grandchildren, Christian Tyler McKenzie, Amber Reagin Allen, Caitlin Joyce Kritz, Chase Anthony Braswell, Jordan Leigh Braswell, Lee Hightower, Shane Poole, Nicole Poole, eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 15, 2021 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton Georgia with Reverend L.T. Logue and Reverend Jimmy Wright officiating.

Mr. Braswell will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Braswell Cemetery; east of Adrian, Georgia.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, at the funeral home, from 9:00 am until the hour of service.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Chase Braswell, Mike Soles, Ricky McKenzie, Shane Allen, Autry Brantley and Jack Hinton
