The Vidalia Indians had to travel to East Laurens High School again on Wednesday, April 7 to face the Falcons in the second game of their region series and took a 14-3 victory. This game had been scheduled for Friday but was moved forward to avoid the bad weather forecast to arrive on that date. Caden Spivey pitched 4 innings to gain his fourth win of the season, striking out 7 batters while only allowing 4 hits. Jordan Walden closed out the game striking out 5 batters and allowing only 1 hit.
The Indian offense was led by Bryson Whited with 4 hits, 4 runs scored and 1 rbi; Walker Moncus with 3 hits, 1 run scored and 4 rbi’s. Michael Blount contributed 2 hits, 1 run scored and 1 rbi. Landry Mead contributed a home run along with 3 runs scored. Ty Dalley also scored 3 runs.
The Indians jumped on top in the first inning with 4 runs but the Falcons scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first to make the score 4-2 Vidalia after one. Vidalia got those two runs back in the top of the second and Spivey shut down the Falcons to put Vidalia back in front by 4 runs after two innings. Neither team scored in the 3rd inning but Vidalia added 4 more in the fourth and again East Laurens failed to score making the score 10-2 Vidalia after 4 complete innings. Vidalia picked up one more in the 5th inning as did East Laurens. Vidalia closed out the scoring with 3 more runs to make the final score 14-3.
