Mrs. EllaVee Reagin Braswell, age 83, of Adrian passed away peacefully on Monday morning, February 22, 2021 at her home.

Born in Hazlehurst, Georgia, she was the oldest daughter and is the last living of nine children born to the late Carlton Plemon and Lily Mae Christine Dyal Reagin.  She grew up in Hazlehurst, GA and was a graduate of Jeff Davis High School, Class of 1955.  While in high school, she played Forward on the girls Basketball team which were State champions from 1952 – 1955.  After high school, she started working as a Bookkeeper at Hazlehurst Manufacturing where she remained until 1980.  In the early 1960’s she met Swainsboro native Ronald Lamar Braswell.  They married in 1962 and made their first home in Hazlehurst.  In 1965, the Braswells moved to Adrian with her husband’s job at Adrian Housing.  Mrs. Braswell started working in Human Resources at Oxford Manufacturing’s shirt factory in Vidalia where she remained until retiring in 2002. 

Mrs. Braswell’s life was centered around her family, family relationships, being a family caregiver, her church and her faith.  Her days of commitment to her church date back to Sunday travel by horse and wagon.   She had been a member at Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene, near Adrian, for over fifty (50) years.  She was a Prayer Warrior before the term and title became popular.  She was involved in the teaching and preparation of young people for Biblical quizzing, participated in Mt. Olive Working Witness Missionary trips to the Philippines, Guyana and Venezuela, attending Cottage Prayer Meetings, Camp Meetings and for many years was involved with Saturday Women’s Afterglow Meetings with her daughter.

She was committed to caring for her family, being the glue that kept her family together and time spent fishing, dove shoots with her husband and canning home grown vegetables.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Mervyn Reagin, Daniel Harrison Reagin, Wayne Madison Reagin, Gerrell Alice Reagin Wheeler, Wilma Janice Reagin Varnadoe, Ned Carlyn “Buddy” Reagin and two infants.   

Mrs. Braswell leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Ronald Braswell, Adrian, GA, children, Sharon McKenzie (Rick), Nolensville, TN, Dane Braswell, Adrian, GA, Jeffery Braswell, East Dublin, GA, Marsha Hightower Poole (Terry), East Dublin, GA, eight grandchildren, Christian Tyler McKenzie, Amber Reagin Allen, Caitlin Joyce Kritz, Chase Anthony Braswell, Jordan Leigh Braswell, Lee Hightower, Shane Poole, Nicole Poole, ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.      

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Jimmy Wright and Reverend L. T. Logue officiating.

Mrs. Braswell will be laid to rest in the Braswell Family Cemetery, Adrian, Georgia.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, at the church, from 9:30 am until the hour of service or friends may call at the family residence.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Autry Brantley, Mike Soles, Gary McCord, Chase Braswell, Tyler McKenzie and Jeff Braswell.

Doyle Knight and the Mt. Olive Senior Adult Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
