East Georgia Healthcare Center is planning a second mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Vidalia on Tuesday, March 2.  This round 1 clinic for vaccinations is for individuals who qualify in the Phase 1A  bracket which includes persons age 65 or older, healthcare workers, First Responders, and caregivers, and is the second 1st Round Clinic in which the city of Vidalia has partnered with EGHC to help reach citizens who wish to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The clinic will be held in the Vidalia Community Center, 107 Old Airport Roads from 10:00 – 3:00 p.m. and you must have an appointment.

Walkiria Akridge, Outreach Representative of East Georgia Healthcare Center, said those who wish to receive the vaccine must complete registration forms prior to their visit. Forms can be picked up locally at East Georgia Healthcare Center behind Walmart at 118 Alice Coleman Drive in Vidalia. You will be required to present your Medicare or insurance card or provide your Social Security Number. Akridge said that if a person does not have any type of insurance, they will still be able to get the vaccine at no cost, adding that no one will be turned down for the shot if they fit the Phase 1A requirement.

On Thursday, February 11, East Georgia Healthcare Center, and the City of Vidalia hosted the first mass vaccination initiative, and approximately 170 qualified individuals had their first shots. Those individuals were given instructions that they are to return on March 11 to receive their 2nd immunizations. The clinic scheduled for March 2 is not confused with those who received their initial shot on February 11, but rather an outreach to vaccinate more of the local population against the pandemic. At the first clinic, East Georgia Healthcare Center Patient Service Manager Pat Galletti said the Vidalia response was the largest they had seen in any of their previous area mass clinics.
