CammackGradyPic

Grady Ray Cammack, age 66 of Soperton passed away on Wednesday afternoon, January 20, 2021 at his home in Soperton, Georgia.

A native and lifelong resident of Treutlen County, he was one of seven children born to the late Grady James and Jessie Lee Gilreath Cammack.  Grady and his siblings grew up in the Rosemont section of Treutlen County until moving to Soperton in 1964.  Grady graduated from Treutlen High School, Class of 1973.   At the age of sixteen he began a long career in the Grocery Industry at Harrell’s IGA in Soperton.  He later worked at the Piglet, becoming and retaining the position as Store Manager for many years and through the most recent acquisition by Pinetucky Meats and Piggly Wiggly.  In 1977 he and his brother, Billy, founded Cammack Processing that quickly became and remains the choice meat processing business in the area.  Grady didn’t only work to live but he lived to work.  He enjoyed his work, he enjoyed his coworkers but most of all he enjoyed his customers.  There was nothing in the store that he wouldn’t or couldn’t do.

He and his siblings grew up in Rosemont Baptist Church and Grady has been a longtime member of Bethsaida Baptist Church where he was a Deacon.

In his spare time he enjoyed growing and sharing tomatoes, tending to his chickens, that he would drive many miles to find and buy, and the game of softball.

Grady leaves behind his sisters and brothers, Lucy M. Peebles (Jones), Hinesville, GA, Bobby Joe Cammack (Joan), Soperton, GA, Billy Cammack (Sue), Mt. Vernon, GA, Geraldine K. Walker (Preston), Dublin, GA, Jane C. Asbell (Earl), Dublin, GA, Donnie Cammack (Teresa), Soperton, GA and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from the graveside in Westview Cemetery with Reverend Glenn Pulliam officiating.

Grady will be laid to rest beside his parents.

His family will receive friends on Saturday, at the graveside, from 10:00 am until the hour of service.
