Mrs. Eva Connell “Jack” Coleman, age 97, beloved wife of the late Leland Elwyn “Shotgun” Coleman of Tarrytown passed away on Monday evening, January 18, 2021 at the home of her son in Tarrytown.

A native and lifelong resident of Montgomery County, she was the eldest of ten children born to the late Mitchell Baldie and Hattie Levada Fountain Connell.  Mrs. Coleman had worked as a Clerk with the Public Health Department for over 42 years; retiring from the Montgomery County Health Department in the early 1980s.

She had been a lifelong member of Bear Creek Baptist Church where she played the piano for many years.

Mrs. Coleman enjoyed cooking, reading her Bible, visiting others and being around her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Leland Elwyn “Shotgun” Coleman, who passed away in 1979, seven siblings, a daughter in law, Lynette Claxton Coleman and two grand daughters, Brenda Lynette Arnsdorff and Amy Rebecca Coleman.

Mrs. Coleman leaves behind a son, Gary Coleman, Tarrytown, two daughters, Dianne Quinn (Thomas), Mt. Vernon, GA, Debra O’Connor (Ben), Ailey, GA, a brother, Russell Connell, Mt. Vernon, GA, a sister, Flora Connell, Mt. Vernon, GA, grandchildren, Charles Leland Coleman (Kathryn), Teresa Stevens (Greg), Gail Moses (Randall), Leland Stephens (Jenniffer), Daniel O’Connor (Rizza), Nathan O’Connor, Matthew O’Connor, great grandchildren, Eva Coleman, Anthony Coleman, Will Boyette, Dillon Boyette, George Arnsdorff, Brandon Arnsdorff, Michael Stevens, Nickolous Stevens, Tori Moses, Anna Moses, Casey Moses, Haleigh Moses, Savannah Stephens, Ashleigh Stephens, Kyleigh Stephens, Nataleigh Stephens, Judson O’Connor, Evie O’Connor, a great great grand daughter, McKinsey Stevens, numerous nieces and nephews and her longtime caregiver, Susie McMullen.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from the graveside in Tarrytown Cemetery with Reverend Owen Waters and Daniel O’Connor officiating.  She will be laid to rest beside her husband.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Charles Coleman, Daniel, Nathan and Matthew O’Connor, Will and Dillon Boyette.  

Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, following the service, at the graveside.
