Mrs. Jimmie McNeese Keene, age 96, beloved wife of the late Eulie Earl Keene of Soperton passed away on the morning, of Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the Emanuel Medical Center in Swainsboro, Georgia.

Born in Treutlen County she was the eldest of eight children born to the late Jim and Annie Maude Page McNeese.  She was a lifelong resident of Treutlen County and a graduate of Soperton High School.  She later studied Theology through Mercer University’s Extension program.   Mrs. Keene had worked as the Manager of the Treutlen County Housing Authority for many years before retiring.

She was a former member of Harmony Baptist Church and had been a longtime member of Soperton First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over twenty years.

She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed fishing in her farm ponds and being around and interacting with people.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by six siblings and her two daughter in laws, Linda Meeks Keene and Carolyn Henry Keene.

She leaves behind, her two sons, Ronald Keene, Eatonton, GA, Michael Keen, Soperton, GA, a brother, Bobby McNeese, Richmond Hill, GA, grandchildren, Melissa Jackson (Tony), James Michael Keene Jr., Amanda Keene Irwin (Chris), great grandchildren, James Michael Keene III, Misty Dawn Hester, Jordan Jackson, great great grandchildren, Emerson, Mason and Isaiah and many nieces and nephews.   

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor Joshua Johnson officiating.

Her family will receive friends, on Tuesday, at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the hour of the service.

Mrs. Keene will be laid to rest, privately, beside her husband in the Keene – McNeese lot in Westview Cemetery.
