Robert Toombs Christian Academy traveled to Lousiville, GA on December 5, 2020, to take on the Thomas Jefferson Academy Jaguars.
The Lady Crusaders lost to the Lady Jaguars 37-32. Leading scorers for the Lady Crusaders were freshman Ansley Akins with eight points. Sophomore Amily Mixon and junior Morgan Newsome followed Akins with six points. “I am so proud of our girls and the way they played and competed against Thomas Jefferson. Each girl who played produced something on the offense of side and defense side. Whether it was limiting our turnovers or doing a better job on the boards and making free throws, we’re getting better every game. With every game we play, our young team is becoming more confident,” states Lady Crusaders Coach Wilkinson. (Courtesy of RTCA)
The Lady Crusaders will travel to Bulloch Academy on Friday, January 8, and look forward to pushing themselves to get better each game
The Crusaders won 61-38 against the Jaguars. Junior Tyler Buggs was the Crusader’s high scorer with 16 points and 18 rebounds. Junior MK McBride finished the night with 15 points, seven assists, and six rebounds. “The boys played hard and got after it tonight. We have to get better on our transition defense but that’s an easy fix. We are playing some good teams right now which is helping us prepare for the region tournament,” states Coach Adam Callaway.
Friday, January 8, RTCA will travel to Bulloch Academy for a big rivalry game for the Crusaders. “This is a big rivalry game for us and we have to come out with energy and effort early on in order to be able to play with one of the best AAA basketball programs this year. We have worked really hard at practice preparing for this game and the team is hungry and ready to play on Friday night,” states Coach Callaway.
The Lady Crusaders and Crusaders will also take on Alleluia Schools out of Augusta on Saturday, January 9. This is the first time both teams will be playing each other and are looking forward to the new competition.
