The discovery of a Vidalia teen’s deceased body two days before Christmas has connected two local law enforcement agencies in two separate cases. Seventeen-year-old Zyuan Caesar had been reported missing on December 17 and the Vidalia Police Department and Georgia Bureau of Investigation were actively searching for him. On December 23, he was found murdered in a house in Vidalia, and that discovery halted the search for him by the Treutlen County Sheriff’s Office who believe Caesar attempted to rob the Colony Bank in Soperton last month.

Treutlen County Sheriff Tommy Corbin said Tuesday that law enforcement had determined that Caesar was the man who entered the bank on December 9 and gave the teller a note stating he had a gun and she had 30 seconds to give him the money. When he realized she had pressed the silent alarm, he apparently became uneasy and left without the money or physically harming anyone.

According to Sheriff Corbin, his office had issued warrants for Caesar’s arrest on December 22, the day before his body was discovered. The Sheriff said Tuesday that the teen’s demise does conclude the investigation by his department regarding the foiled bank robbery attempt in December.

Vidalia Police Commissioner Brian Scott said that the death of Caesar is still under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and information that can publicly be released is limited. But and this time and is still considered a homicide.
