December 1— VHS Indian senior Landry Mead signed a letter of intent for a scholarship to play baseball for the East Georgia State College Bobcats. In 2018 he was named as a Region 2AA Honorable Mention, 2019 First Team All-State and Region 2AA First Team. In 2021 a Pre-Season All-State Selection and the first Vidalia player to be on the cover of the Georgia Dugout magazine. Heading into his senior season Mead has a .355 career batting average.
“I wanted to be close to home and I lost my junior year. East Georgia is more on player development and I felt like they would be a program that is right for me. I am thankful to my parents and coaches who pushed me to be the best that I can be. Thanks to Coach Korn for starting me as a freshman and just giving me the opportunity to just play. I am really looking forward to this upcoming season. I get chills just thinking about it.” Mead said.
VHS Head Coach Brent Korn, “He is a great player and an even better kid. He has been our leader the last couple of years, even as a freshman he stepped in and took over the shortstop position. He has been one of our leading hitters and one of our guys on the hill. We are thankful he is getting this opportunity.”
