For the 17th time since 2000 and the 9th year in a row, the Vidalia Indians are headed to the State Playoffs. The Indians who captured the Region 2AA title two weeks ago will host the Bleckley County Royals, the 4th seed from Region 3AA on Saturday in Round 1 of the GHSA State Playoffs, beginning at 1:00 at Buck Cravey Field. The GHSA mandated the move to Saturday due to the lack of availability of qualified playoff officials. The GHSA also stated that the number of officials is also down slightly this season for those opting out for COVID-19 concerns. The GHSA also stated that they would establish a rotation of classifications for playing on Saturdays for first-round games in the future.

The Indians, who are the number 10 team in AA, began the year at 0-2 but have now won 7 games in a row, including Friday night’s 21-7 win over Swainsboro. Bleckley County comes into the game with a record of 6-3, with one of those wins coming against The Indians 21-14 on September 25th. In that game, the Royals broke a 14-14 tie with 3:09 to go in the game to secure the win on a wet soggy field. The Royals, who were once the number 5 ranked team in AA, lost their last two Region games of the year to slip from the #1 seed all the way down to the 4th seed. Bleckley County features UGA commit Amarius Mims (6’7” & 310), the number one offensive lineman in Georgia.
