Graveside services are scheduled for 2pm on Saturday, November 28th at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Soperton for Andy Eddy Hooks, of Soperton, Georgia.
Pastors Phillip Warnock and Earzie Day officiating.
Mr. Hooks, 70, passed after a long battle with cancer on November 21, 2020 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.
Visitation with family will be at graveside from 1:30-2:00pm prior to the service and at Wayne and Angie Hooks’ Spring Branch Farm, 814 Pineland Circle, Soperton following the service.
Andy was born on September 27, 1950 and is a lifetime resident of Soperton, Georgia.
In high school Andy was on Coach Cook Holliday’s first state track championship team and on the state champion 4x100 relay team. Andy was also the region champion in the high hurdles as well as school record holder in the high hurdles. Coach has said that Andy was one of the best athletes he had ever coached.
In football Andy was an All-State running back and held seven school records. He credited his teammates and coaches for his many accomplishments and awards during his high school years.
He was a huge UGA football fan and enjoyed watching college games. Andy had a heart for music. One of his favorite past times was making music on his guitar with his friends and family.
Preceded in death by parents Andrew “Coochie” and Trudy Hooks, brother Allen Tracy Hooks and brother in law Doug Knight.
Survivors include brother Marty (Donna) Hooks, and sisters LaGail Knight and Judie Hooks.
Nephews Stacy Knight, Clint Braddy, Drew Hooks, Matthew (Bethany) Hooks, Seth Hooks, and Russell Wadley.
Nieces Tara (Jason) Friedman, Laysha (Stephen) Pike, Triston (Russ) Wilcher, Shelby Hooks, Shabrica Wadley, and Jessica Warren.
Great nephews Bryce Pike, Jaye Friedman, Kalen Friedman, Maverick Hooks, Oliver Wilcher and Silas Hooks.
Great nieces Haven Pike and Mayleigh Wilcher
