Mrs. Betty Jean Graham Hilbun, age 84 former longtime resident of Laurens County passed away on Thursday evening, November 19, 2020 at the Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Soperton.
Born in the Rockledge Community of Laurens Community, she was the only daughter and the youngest of two children born to the late Daniel Moses and Jessie Mae Meeks Graham. She grew up in Rockledge and was a member of the first 12th grade graduating class of the Wilkes School. After high school she married Laurens County native, William Eddie Hilbun. Mrs. Hilbun had worked at Shamrock Limited until the late 1970s. The family moved to Florida for a short time as her husband attended Bible College. They returned to Georgia where her husband was ordained and served as Pastor of several area churches. Mrs. Hilbun served as a pastor’s wife until her husband passed away in 2010.
She was presently a member of Orianna Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and worked in Vacation Bible School.
She enjoyed yardwork; especially cutting grass, fishing, UNO and Skipbo card games and Yahtzee,
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by twin infant sons in 1960, her brother, Charles Don Graham, her sister in law, Navie Bracewell Graham and a nephew, Wayne Graham.
She leaves behind her son, Richard E. “Ricky” Hilbun, Soperton, GA, nephews and nieces, David Graham (Bessie), Wayne Hilbun, Anita Barfield (Frank), Kevin Hilbun and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 21, 2020 from the graveside in Dublin Memorial Gardens, Dublin, Georgia with Reverend Arthur Conley officiating.
