November 17-- Montgomery County High School will be honoring the inaugural class of athletic hall of fame members at Friday’s home football game against Dublin High School. The Hall of Fame inductees and their families will be honored at the start of half time during the season finale with the Dublin Fighting Irish.

The inaugural class of MCHS Athletic Hall of Fame members includes two very well-known and well respected coaches as well as arguably the most highly decorated athlete to ever dawn an Eagle uniform in any sport. The late, William Mayes Dobbins, was the coach that started the football program at MCHS. Dobbins coached many other sports including baseball, track, and golf and served as the Head Coach of two state championship basketball teams captured by the Lady Eagles. Coach Dobbins also served as athletic director and principal at Montgomery County High School. The late Coach John Peacock is remembered as the head football coach when the Eagles were in their prime. Coach Peacock led the Eagles to three region championships during the 1980s and compiled a winning record 85-49-2 over a period of 12 years leading the Eagles on the gridiron. The late Curtis Ryals Sr. is most remembered for running through tackles of opposing defenders as well as running away from them on his way to the end zone. Ryals was named the Class B Back of the year in 1971 and also blazed to a pair of individual state titles on the track in the short sprints. Ryals led the Eagles football team to their first ever region championship in 1971 and also led the Eagles to the awards podium at the 1972 GHSA state track meet.

Eagle fans of all ages, friends, family, former players, and teammates are welcomed to come honor these three Eagle legends that will make up the inaugural MCHS Athletics Hall of Fame class on Friday night.
