The Treutlen Vikings hosted Hawkinsville in their final home game of the 2020 season and struggled to move the ball offensively all night as the Red Devils shutout the Vikings 36 – 0.
The Red Devils took the opening possession and scored on a 1 yard run by QB Chase Reese with 8:21 left in the first quarter. The two-point conversion run was successful and Hawkinsville led 8 – 0. After Treutlen couldn’t move it on their first possession, Hawkinsville took over in great field position at the Viking 48 yard line. The Red Devils continued their relentless ground attack and drove to another score with 1:06 remaining in the first quarter when RB Naja McNeal ran it in from 5 yards out. Again the two point conversion run was successful and the Red Devils led 16-0 after one quarter.
The Treutlen defense was able to get a stop on the next Red Devil possession when DB Stacy Adams forced a fumble and LB Coy Heath recovered. On the Vikings first play from scrimmage on offense, RB PJ Smiley got loose on a 60 yard run deep into Red Devil territory but Treutlen couldn’t capitalize and turned it over on downs at the Red Devil 10 yard line. Hawkinsville added another touchdown on a long Naja McNeal run with 5:27 left in the third quarter. The two point conversion pass was successful and Hawkinsville led 24 – 0 at the half.
When the Vikings first possession of the second half stalled, Hawkinsville took over and extended their lead when RB Naja McNeal ran it in from a yard out with 8:29 left in the third quarter. The two point conversion run was unsuccessful and the Red Devils led 30 – 0. Hawkinsville added another touchdown on a long run by Dagan Mullis with 9:47 left in the game to make the final score 36 – 0 in favor of the Red Devils.
