Mr. Ivey Troy Phillips, age 78, beloved husband of Linda Nell Henry Phillips of the Oglethorpe Community of Soperton, passed away on Friday afternoon, November 6, 2020 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, Georgia.
A native and lifelong resident of Treutlen County, he was one of five children and the youngest son born to the late George J. and Iris Juanita Coleman Phillips. As a young man, he worked at the Gulf Oil Station in Soperton. Mr. Phillips later worked as a Machine Tender for Southeast Paper in Dublin, for many years, until retiring in 2004.
He enjoyed the outdoors, starting his days early (with his chickens and guineas), hunting, fishing and his dog.
He was a longtime member at Morningside Baptist Church where he accepted the responsibility for the Building and Grounds.
Mr. Phillips was a selfless and giving man that would put his needs aside to come to the aid of others. He enjoyed and looked forward to hosting his annual family reunions on July fourth; which became a community event.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, a brother, Donald Phillips and a sister, Sherry Davis.
Mr. Phillips leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Linda Nell Henry Phillips, Soperton, GA, their children, Joseph Phillips (Dianna), Russell Springs, KY, Amanda Phillips Cox (Jason), Soperton, GA, a brother, Gerald Phillips (Loyce), Soperton, GA, a sister, Fran Braddy (Douglas), Soperton, GA, a brother in law, B.C. Davis, Vidalia, GA, four grandchildren, Ashten Mackenzie Phillips, Emma Rae Phillips, Jacob Troy Phillips, Gracie Lynn Cox and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 from the graveside in Boiling Springs Cemetery with Reverend Louis Pearce and Reverend Vic Fordham officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to be made in his memory to the Morningside Baptist Church Building Fund, 4327 Holton Chapel Road, Soperton, GA 30457.
