On October 28, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and VFW Auxiliary Post #3563 will say "thank you" to for local emergency personnel as part of national First Responder's Appreciation Day.
Auxilary President Shirley Curl said, "It is good we have a day of recognition because sometimes we take their service for granted and we tend to forget there is a human behind every First Responders' Badge. The selfless contributions of the emergency medical professionals, firefighters and law enforcement personnel including our Sheriff and his deputies, the City Police Departments, and EMT personnel are familiar to all of us. We see the results of this daily."
She adds, "Though they may feel underappreciated, we assure them that is not so. When they might have thoughts from time-to-time of quitting, we want them to know that they are truly needed. We appreciate each one of them for all they do and will continue to do and they are in our thoughts and prayers."
To honor those local heroes, the VFW and Auxiliary will host them for a luncheon on National First Responders Appreciation Day and make special presentations to them for their service.
