October 15-- The Toombs County Lady Bulldogs Softball team started the week needing to win two region games on the road and securing the number three seed heading into the state playoffs next week. The Lady Dogs played well in both games, starting with a 16-0 shutout win over East Laurens Tuesday. Wednesday Toombs County defeated Bacon County 14-5, a team they had split with earlier in the season.
Toombs County will play at Monticello, the number four team from Region 3 in a best of three series starting next Monday.
"I am really proud of the way the team played in these two important region games. We are peaking at the right time of the season.and accomplished one of our goals of making it into the state playoffs as a higher seed than we were last year. We are going to take each game one at the time and hopefully accomplish another goal of advancing further in the playoffs." Coach Sam Sapp said.
