ATLANTA – The Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Patsy Springfield, 84, passed away in a fire at 858 Conway McDonald Road in Tarrytown on Friday, October 2. Upon arriving at the scene, investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Commissioner King’s State Fire Investigations Unit found Ms. Springfield on the kitchen floor.

“The majority of the fire damage was contained to the kitchen area and appears to have originated on the stove,” said Commissioner King. “The victim lived alone in the home at the time of the fire. Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones and neighbors in this difficult time.”

Ms. Stewart was moved by the local coroner to Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Home in Vidalia.

Commissioner King’s Fire Investigations Unit is assisting the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office with this investigation. The passing of Ms. Springfield marks the 63rd fire fatality in Georgia this year.
