WalkerPicCROPPED.jpegMrs. Ruby Willis Walker, age 89, beloved wife to “Buck” Walker, of Orianna passed away on Wednesday morning, September 23, 2020 at their home.

Shortly after her birth in Hazlehurst her mother, Ruby Wommack Willis, passed away.   Ruby came to Treutlen County and lived with and was raised by her grandparents.   Growing up in a large family, her uncles and aunts became her sisters and brothers.  In 1947 she married childhood acquaintance and Orianna native Charles Feltman “Buck” Walker.  Mr. Buck and Miss Ruby lived in Soperton before moving to the Walker homeplace in Orianna in 1966.   Miss Ruby had worked as a Machine Operator at the Soperton Shirt Factory, the carpet mill in Dublin and at Roydon Wear in Soperton until the plant closed.

She had been a longtime member at Orianna Baptist Church where she had sang in the choir.

She enjoyed tending her flowers, quilting and spontaneous cooking.

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her father, Jake A. Willis, grandparents, Shird and Della Rich Willis, and other family members, B. E. “Bully” Willis (Rita), Lizzie Amerson Whited, Issac Willis (Maggie), Cecil Willis (Strick), Ben Willis (Daisy), Marvin Willis (Pauline), Mazie McKenzie (L.H.), Raymond Willis (Grace), Thurmond Willis (Jeanette), Marjorie Peacock (Freddie) and, James Edward Willis.

Mrs. Walker leaves behind, her husband of 73 years, Charles F. “Buck” Walker, Orianna Community, their children, David Walker, Orlando, FL, Beverly Wyatt (Lawton), Orianna Community, siblings, Freddy Willis, Lothair Community, Bobby Willis, Dublin, GA, Linda Dykes, Vidalia, GA, grandchildren, Jonathan Wyatt, Tiffany McLendon (Chuck), great grandchildren, Ethan McLendon, Bethany Wyatt, great great grandchildren, Emilio Lopez, Laylinn Lopez, numerous nieces and nephews and Jackie Willis (wife of the late James Edward Willis).

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, September 25, 2020 from the graveside in Orianna Cemetery; located on Anderson Pond Road, near the crossroads of Orianna Road and Anderson Pond Road.   Reverend Mark Sweat and Reverend Arthur Conley will be officiating.

Her family will receive friends, on Friday, at the graveside or friends may call at the residence.

Facial coverings are encouraged.
