September 23-- Monday, September 21, the VHS Indians traveled to Jeff Davis to compete in the Southern Georgia XC Championships bringing home a first place in the Boys medium school division and 3rd place finish for the Lady Indians.

Stand out Sarah Owen (Above) finished 4th overall with a personal best time of 20:55. Kaitlyn Allen had a personal best of 23:30 as did Ashley Hammock 24:53, Kayleigh Folsom 26:35 and Rosa Diaz 26:51. 

“The ladies capitalized on the cooler temperatures and flat course exceeding expectations. They are in excellent shape and are certainly beginning to show results of their hard work over the two months.” Coach Mandy Godbee said.

Michael Blount (Below) led the Boys team turning in a personal best as well with a time of 17:50 placing 8th overall. Michael had a very fast first mile but held on the pace finishing with a sprint at the finish, beating out Jeff Davis' Pierce Parlor. With the help of Luke Palmer running a 18:18, Jace Gabbard (Below) 18:19 and Daniel and Andrew Hodges 19:57 the team bested Jeff Davis by 3 points for the win.

Coach Godbee, “Every runner had a season best and 4 of the top 5 had all time personal bests. These young men are determined and willing to do what it takes to better themselves every day.”
