September 12—It was a tough start to the 2020 season for the RTCA Crusaders falling to the defending GISA Class AA state champions, Thomas Jefferson Academy Jaguars 46-6 at McLendon Field.
The Crusaders received the opening kickoff and on their first offensive possession RTCA fumbled the ball and Dawson Sharpe for the Jaguars picked it up and ran 50 yards for a touchdown. The PAT was good for a 7-0 Jaguars lead.
Thomas Jefferson would get on the board again after another Crusader fumble with a QB Sam Williamson 24- yard pass to WR Conner Flores. PAT good to make the score 14-0 with 10:29 left in the first quarter.
Williamson would run it into the end zone 15 yards for the Jaguars with 7:09 remaining in the first to put Thomas Jefferson up 20-0.
The Jaguars would score four more times in the second period. RB John Durden would score twice on runs of 32 and 8 yards. FB Matt McNeely took the ball in the end zone from 3 yards out. Gerald Hunt returned a RTCA punt 46 yards with 8 seconds left in the first half to put the Jaguars up 46-0.
The Crusaders would get on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter with 7:31 left in the game on a 21-yard touchdown run by RB Hunter Ennis.Ennis would lead the Crusaders in rushing with 140 yards on 17 carries.
