Mrs. Jeanette Elizabeth “Cookie” Cook, age 81, of Vidalia, died Friday, August 14, 2020, in the Coliseum Hospital in Macon after an extended illness. She was a native of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, was a 1957 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and was a graduate of Queens College in Charlotte, North Carolina. As her husband was in the military, they lived in Europe and several states in the U.S. before moving to Vidalia in 1987. She worked with Liberty County Schools as a secretary and retired in 2009 as bookkeeper from the Vidalia Board of Education. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Ivey and Mozelle Robinson Ivey.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Charles L. Cook of Vidalia; three children, Charles L. Cook, Jr. and wife Melissa of Clover, South Carolina, Amanda “Mandy” Cook of Vidalia, and Tim L. Cook, Sr. and wife Evelyn of Swainsboro; one adopted son, Michael O’Neal and wife Annette of Baxley; one brother, Ronald Ivey of Carthage, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Melissa Wilson and husband Ronnie of Clover, Timothy Cook, Jr. and wife Gari of Savannah, Michael McAndrew of York, South Carolina, Gabriel McAndrew of Clover, and Ryan Roe and wife Amanda of Metter; four great-grandchildren, Kate, Alex, Rhett and Brayden; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 19th, at 10:00 a.m. in Gaston Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Lee Cook III officiating.
