August 10—The Toombs County Lady Bulldogs picked up two wins at the Tattnall County Tournament Saturday. Toombs County defeated Glynn Academy 11-1 and the Metter Lady Tigers 10-6.
The Lady Bulldogs scored six runs in the first inning against Glynn Academy on the way to the win. Cassidy Brantley, Lily Mosley, Rilyn Fitzgerald, Jesslyn Smith and KK Mobley each had RBI’s in the first. Toombs pounded out ten hits. Krista Cantwell got the win for the Lady Bulldogs allowing only one run, striking out seven and one walk.
Against the Metter Lady Tigers both teams scored one run in the first inning but in the top of the third Toombs scored seven runs. The Lady Tigers came back with five runs of their own in the bottom of the third to make the score 8-4. The Lady Bulldogs added one run in the fifth and sixth inning.
Arlie Gooden picked up the win on the mound allowing three hits, six runs and striking out four. Krista Cantwell came in relief and got the last seven outs to get the save.
Cassidy Brantley went two for four at the plate and Gooden had three stolen for the Lady Bulldogs.
